Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA)

The goal of this act is to make Ontario accessible for people with disabilities by 2025.  Ontario is developing mandatory province-wide standards to achieve this goal.  To comply, the OPPA Credit Union has adopted policies and procedures for providing goods and services to people with disabilities effective January 1, 2012.

Our Accessibility Standards for Member Service are available upon request in a mutually acceptable form of communication.

CHIP CARDS ARE HERE!

Making Safe Payments Safer With Your New Chip Debit Card

What Is A Chip Card?

Chip cards contain an embedded microchip which is virtually impossible to replicate.  This provides significant protection against card counterfeiting and fraud.  Your card works together with chip-enabled terminals, a Personal Identification Number (PIN) and a range of security features to create a multi-layered defence against fraud.

Even though these new chip cards incorporate sophisticated technology, they are easy to use.  At your local ATM, you won't notice any difference.

Keep in mind that it will take time for all stores and restaurants to be set up with chip-enabled terminals.  To help with this transition, your new debit card will also have a magnetic stripe to make sure it continues to work in older terminals.

What's Next?

First, you will receive the PIN for your new chip debit card.  Keep your new PIN safe and don't disclose it to anyone.  A few days later, you'll receive your new chip debit card.  Once you have followed the instructions to activate the card, you can begin using it.

Can I Change My PIN?

If you would like to change your PIN once you receive your new chip debit card, you can visit our Barrie Branch, the OPPA Credit Union ATM located in Orillia at OPP General Headquarters or visit www.choicerewards.ca/chip to find the nearest PIN change machine.

We are really excited about the arrival of these new chip debit cards.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our office at 705-726-5656 or 1-800-461-4288 and our operators at extension zero will be happy to help you.
